COVID 19 Update The close of 2020 has brought the world a little closer to a possible end to the pandemic with the development of vaccines which are already being administered to people in our area. However, we still seem to be a long way from a return to some kind of normality in our lives, and the Music Club committee has accepted that the second half of the season will not be able to go ahead. Happily, we have been able to engage most of our artists for the next season, 2021-22, and we can all look forward to welcoming them from October onwards.

Other news

At the last committee meeting, which took place in October between lockdowns, we co-opted Pam Orchard, who has been our President for a number of years, and Heather Laugharne, who served for a number of years on the committee, but took a short break for family reasons. Both of them are familiar with the running of the Club and can support us as we face the future and its challenges in 2021.

Meanwhile, we should like to wish all our friends and supporters good health and our very best wishes for the forthcoming year, and hope it will not be too long before we can all meet again to enjoy live music.

Please keep checking this website and our Bideford Music Club Facebook page for news about performances that you can enjoy online. We will be adding to these as they come along. Meanwhile, best wishes to you all until we can meet again to share the joy of live music.

Bideford Music Club has been established since 1957 and their concerts have been a prominent feature of the musical life of the town.

The aim of the club is to produce classical music concerts of the highest possible professional standard, engaging young artists of international and national repute. The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and ‘Making Music’ support two of the artists every year, among them in the past, Gerald Moore, Benjamn Luxon, Dennis Matthews, Anthony Hopkins, Leon Goosens, Patricia Rozario and Bobby Chen.

Each year workshops are offered to primary and secondary schools in the area, paid for by the club. Members enjoy social gatherings over resfreshment at the Christmas concert and the Annual General Meeting.

The club is grateful for the support given by:

Bideford Bridge Trust
